Whether you’re just starting out as a real estate agent or you’ve been in the industry for a long time, you know that you’re most likely going to get paid through commissions, i.e., a percentage of the sale of the property. This is why it’s extremely important that you find as many clients as possible and make yourself known across a wide audience of people.

But how can you do this when there are so many competitors? Yes, it will require a bit of hard work, dedication, and patience, but there are a lot of ways for you to be able to get more clients as a marketing agent. Here is some of our best advice.

  1. Take high-quality photos of your listings.

People are going to get to know you based on the properties that you’re selling. Therefore, you want to make sure that the photos you provide are of the best quality possible. The nicer the photos look, the higher the possibility of people coming to view the listing, which will result in more opportunities for you. Some real estate agents like to hire professional photographers for this task, while others take it upon themselves to do the work. Whichever you choose, make sure that your photos have proper lighting, showcase the spaciousness of the home, and present it in a positive view.

  1. Inform your friends and family and ask for referrals.

There’s never anything wrong with helping your friends and family with their listings. People you know are bound to be looking for homes to buy or seeking to sell their own, which is where you come in. Of course, they will be more likely to ask you for your help since they know you. Once everything is said and done, ask them to refer you to their friends and other people they know. If you were able to successfully sell their home or find a home for them to purchase, the chances are very high that you will be able to catch new clients based on referrals.

  1. Create a website and write content.

You will definitely want to create a website for your business. Or, what some agents do is utilize their agency’s website for writing good content. Whatever the case may be, it’s important for you to have your own personal website where you have included information about yourself and your listings, as well as content that would inspire potential clients to view your site. Make sure that you conduct some research as far as what keywords are the most popular so that you can write your content based on those. You could provide buyers some advice on buying a new home, some of the best areas for new homes, and more.

  1. Host plenty of open houses.

Open houses are one of the best ways for you to find new clients. People in the neighborhood will inevitably want to swing by and check out what the house is listed for so they can get some perspective for their own homes. Other people who are looking for homes will come by, too. This is the best time for you to connect with potential clients and possibly start working with them.

  1. Establish your presence online.

No matter what kind of small business you intend to have, it’s an absolute must that you establish some sort of presence online, especially on social media. People find out about small businesses through what their friends are following on social media, plus you will be able to use paid advertisements to reach a wider audience. Creating pages and posting pictures of your listings, contact information, and a small biography will encourage people to follow you and perhaps hire you as their agent.

  1. Use Google Adwords and direct traffic to a high-quality landing page.

Utilizing advertisements is also another key way to get people to know you. Google Adwords is a great way for you to be able to create ads. The next step is creating a landing page, which is where people will be led to when they click on your ad. You can use platforms such as Pagewiz to do this effectively. On your landing page, you will want to include some critical information about yourself, such as where you’re located, what agency you work for, some of your homes, customer testimonials, your background, and of course, your contact information. It is also important to make sure that the page is visually appealing so that customers will have a bigger incentive to contact or hire you.

  1. Make business cards and distribute them.

In any business, business cards are another critical way for you to gain clientele. Make sure that you choose a design that is appealing and include your contact information on the card. Take your business cards with you wherever you go, especially when you host open houses. This way, you will be able to distribute them to potential clients who will now have your contact information and might contact you when they need your services.

  1. Network, network, network.

You absolutely need to put yourself out there if you want to have as many clients as possible. Everyone you know needs to know that you work in real estate. Have your business cards on hand at all times and distribute them. Go to events for real estate or other networking events in your area. Talk to other real estate agents and feature them on your blog or website. They will also feature you on theirs. Have a small sales pitch ready when you’re speaking to people that will include your background and expertise. Attending all these events and being active in your community will allow people to get to know you and eventually hire you for their listings.
